USA Immigration - Short Business Visit B1 Visa
People travelling to the U.S. for tourism or business for 90 days or less from qualified countries may be eligible to visit the U.S. without a visa if they meet the visa waiver program requirements. There are currently 37 countries participating in the visa waiver programme which are out lined below:
- New Zealand
- San Marino
- Czech Republic
- South Korea
- Taiwan (see note below)
- United Kingdom
Applicants that are looking to travel to the US on business are normally required to apply for a B1 Visa. A B1 visa will allow you to do the following:
- Conduct Negotiations
- Solicit sales or investment
- Discuss planned investment or purchases.
- Make investments or purchases
- Attend Meetings, and participate in them fully.
- Interview and hire staff.
- Conduct research.
You are not allowed to take part in any gainful employment at anytime on this visa, however you will find that a B1 and B2 visa are issued jointly. The B-1 and B2 visas should generally be applied for in a country of which the candidate is a Citizen or Resident. In most cases the B1/B2 will be issued for a period of 6 months and can be extended providing the immigration office is convince that your purpose of acquiring an extension are genuine.
