South African Immigration - Life Partner Visa (Temporary Residency)
Life Partner Visa
Life Partner Visas are issued to foreign nationals who are looking to relocate to South Africa with a South African partner (life partner) with whom they are in a permanent relationship. The Life Partner Temporary Permit is valid for a period of up to 2 years and applicants applying under this category, must be able to evidence that they have been in a relationship with a South African Citizen or Permanent Resident for a duration of no less than 2 years. Applicants are also required to prove the extent of which financial responsibilities are shared. In line with the current immigration rules, existing permit holders under this category can have their visa extended, however, you must be able to evidence that the relationship is still ongoing.
Marriage/Spousal Visa
Spousal Permits/Marriage Visas are issued to foreign nationals who are able to demonstrate that they are married to a South African Citizen or Permanent Resident. This is a Temporary Visa which can be issued for a period of up to 3 years.
Can I work?
Applicants are permitted to work under both categories however, you must obtain a work endorsement once you have received a valid job offer.
